At Silver Tree Primary School and Nursery, we believe that play is an essential part of every child's development. We are currently working towards the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) Primary Programme Award, a nationally recognised programme that helps schools improve the quality of play opportunities for all children. OPAL is based on the understanding that children learn not only in the classroom, but also through play. By developing our outdoor environment and expanding the range of play opportunities available, we aim to create happier, healthier, more active, and more engaged children.
As part of our OPAL journey, we are developing our outdoor spaces, introducing new play resources, listening to children's ideas, and working closely with staff, parents, and the wider community to enhance playtimes. Our goal is to provide inclusive, creative, and stimulating play opportunities that support children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development
